Neither AMJ nor Leo needed much of an excuse to get to Prince Edward Island at this point. But when Kate Macdonald Butler, LMM's granddaughter, suggested they attend the biennial LMM Conference in June 2006, they pounced on it. Although they opted for the course that was offered at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown instead of the conference, they knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the main Lucy Maud Montgomery scholars. It was a research-intensive week as they conducted interviews, toured more crucial LMM locales, and got feedback about their concept from the people that matter. Although there were those that seemed dubious at first that LMM's life story was to be brought to the stage, they couldn't help but be persuaded by AMJ and Leo's enthusiasm and ideas!

Charlottetown's Confederation Centre of the Arts, where AMJ and Leo hoped to premiere 9LoLMM.

The UPEI classroom where Elizabeth Waterston (co-editor of LMM's journals) and Jennifer Litster's students included AMJ!

The gorgeous UPEI campus in Charlottetown.

Leo at LMM's birthplace in Clifton (now New London).

Where it all began, 30 November 1874.

The Lake of Shining Waters, made infamous in Anne of Green Gables - although to LMM it was just Campbell's Pond!

Silver Bush, the Campbell home in Park Corner where LMM spent many happy moments, both in childhood and adulthood.

Across from Silver Bush, the home of LMM's grandfather Donald Montgomery, where her father Hugh was raised.

The schoolhouse in Lower Bedeque where LMM taught from 1897-1898. It was restored in 1989.

The Webb home, otherwise known to Anne fans the world over as Green Gables.

Somehow Leo of Green Gables just doesn't quite sound the same!

Just beyond Green Gables, Lover's Lane - LMM's favourite place in nature.
