For The Nine Lives of L.M. Montgomery, all roads lead to Canada! And why not? LMM is as much a symbol of Canada as Niagara Falls or the CN Tower. January 2007 saw Adam-Michael James and Leo Marchildon returning to Toronto - just in time for the first long-awaited snow of the winter! While this trip was much mellower than previous ones, it was equally important, as they were there to visit Kate Macdonald Butler (LMM's granddaughter) and her literary consultant, Sally Cohen, to get their blessing on the completed first draft of the libretto! In addition to having a successful and productive meeting, the duo ventured to Stratford, Ontario to see about putting on 9LoLMM in the celebrated theatre town. AMJ did a little sightseeing, and Leo began writing the music and bringing AMJ's lyrics to life! Then there were boring things like lawyers and producers to contend with. :)  Exactly what would happen next was anyone's guess, but one thing was certain as 9LoLMM's June 2008 premiere date inched closer - Canada wasn't through with AMJ and Leo yet!

AMJ and Leo were in for a very busy week upon their arrival in Toronto!

The CN Tower is visible from pretty much anywhere in the area.

AMJ and Leo went directly to the source to discuss their finished version of the libretto.

You can connect something from LMM's world to many things in Toronto - although this subway station isn't actually named after her son!

Toronto's convenient public transportation system made it easy for Leo and AMJ to get around - and each subway station has its own unique look.

Yonge Street, Toronto's main artery. As mentioned in her journals, LMM and Ewan often travelled this road in their motorcar - before the high-rises, of course!.

Leo worked on his initial compositions on this 100-year-old piano at his parents' house in North York.
