Lucy Maud Montgomery's creative process was often interrupted by that infamous intruder - Life. AMJ and Leo experienced this for themselves in a big way during a trip to Toronto, where they intended to focus on securing producers and investors. Each of them found themselves dealing with the unexpected major illness of a parent, which naturally shuffled priorities. AMJ had to break into the trip and fly to Florida. Even there, he began work on another massive rewrite, and continued with it once back in Canada. Yet, in the middle of all this, AMJ and Leo were able to take in a sight or two and had the pleasure of meeting some members of "The Maud Squad" they hadn't met yet! Maud was still able to create no matter what Life threw at her - and she leads by example.

Awesome fall colours in downtown Ottawa. AMJ and Leo stopped through on the way to Toronto to submit material to the National Arts Centre.

Go home? AMJ and Leo visited Bala, where Lucy Maud Montgomery and her family vacationed in 1922 - and theorize that she liked it because it reminded her of PEI.

AMJ and Leo with Linda Hutton-Jackson. Along with her husband Jack, the Huttons bought the tourist home where LMM stayed, and started the Bala Museum.

The spot on Lake Muskoka where LMM came up with the locale for her book The Blue Castle, fictionalized as Mistawis.

Not having seen fall colours in over 30 years, AMJ took the time to get to know them again - up close!

Leo and AMJ finally got a chance to meet Mary Rubio, who, with Elizabeth Waterston, edited Lucy Maud Montgomery's all-important journals for publication.
