Having recorded the demo for Nine
Lives in L.A. back in 2007, the question arose as to whether an official
cast album would be produced now that the show had made it to the stage.
The answer, of course, was yes! Before the show even closed on 3 August 2008,
the cast went into the studio to lay down their vocals. Another month or
so went into mixing and creating artwork, then of course there was manufacturing.
Leo, AMJ, and several cast members celebrated the official release on 4 November
2008 at the Best of PEI Store and at other events as 2008 came to a close.
But the wheels were already in motion for two thousand nine
- the decision was made to bring Nine Lives to Charlottetown and the
Carrefour Theatre. This also meant one more rewrite, but the sprit of reinvention
in the air made the task easier. New video was shot for the screen and a
new song was created to consolidate a chunk of scenes in Act II. Smaller
cast, tighter script, new ideas for staging - and new faces found during
auditions. Nine Lives was getting ready to live another life!
